I have always been creative and talented with art; but my history with stick and poke tattooing began in Quebec five years ago. I bought my first stick and poke tattoo kit and used it as a tool to journal the story of my life. I began by using myself as a canvas. I started with tattooing some of my core values which encompass honesty, vitality, courage and freedom. I also created images on my body that represented pieces of my life. I wanted these as a daily reminder of how I felt in those moments. I am proud of every single meaningful image on my body.
My career with tattooing began with my travels: starting from the east side of Canada all the way to Tofino, Vancouver Island. Everyone I travelled with wanted tattoos from me to remember our trip. I was inundated with so many requests, I started a tattoo business and named it RYT which stands for “Remember Your Trip”.
All my work is hand made. The drawings and the tattoos are done without machines or electricity. I take my time to do each project. The client and myself are the only ones responsible for the results. For me, stick and poke tattooing is very relaxing. I feel that the technique of stick and poke tattooing is more respectful on the body and much smoother for the skin which makes a big difference on fingers, feet, ears, elbows, knees and inside the mouth resulting in a darker, longer lasting tattoo. I enjoy offering a unique experience and good memories. It is a brief moment in time that will last a lifetime. I want to help people feel better about themselves. I want them to love their bodies and souls. I want us to remember our trip.
I love that my art is traveling around the world. Some of my tattoos are surfing in Mexico, others are touring Germany or hiking in Australia. I feel like I am traveling with them too. One day I will die, but knowing that some pieces of me will remain on earth, enjoying life, makes me believe I will live on a little longer. I love it!
